Other Places to Visit.

A visit to any of the following in Namibia would make a perfect accompaniment to a week at Otjumue:

Etosha, the country’s foremost National Park with prolific birdlife and large concentrations of game.

The Namib Desert, one of the world’s oldest, stretching along the thousand mile

length of the country and including

        The giant sand Dunes at Sossusvlei .

        The Skeleton coast for the coastal bird life and sea lions.

        Kaokoland , home to the unique desert elephant and the nomadic Himba tribe.

Damaraland with some two thousand rock paintings and one of the only rising populations of Black Rhino in Africa outside a national park.

 

Okonjima Guest Lodge, base of the Africat Foundation for Cheetah and Leopard.

The Cheetah Conservation Fund, centered at Otjiwarongo.

Fish River Canyon-the world's second largest-161kms long and up to 27kms wide

The Waterberg Plateau, a spectacular natural plateau with excellent game viewing.

Alternatively spend a week in the Cape, flying direct to Capetown, and then connect on to Windhoek for a week at Otjumue.

Travel Arrangements.

Air Namibia fly to Windhoek direct from Gatwick three days per week.  Flights cost c.£ 490 for APEX economy class per adult.

 Lufthansa fly to Windhoek direct from Frankfurt with connecting flights from Heathrow or Gatwick. Flights cost c.£ 650 for APEX economy class per adult. 

BA, SAA and Virgin fly daily London direct to Jo’burg or Capetown with connecting flights onto Windhoek [Air Namibia, SAA]. Flights cost c.£ 600 for apex economy class per adult.

There is no time difference with the UK from end of April - end August, thereafter GM +2 hours.
